District Social Emotional Learning Team

The district Social Emotional Learning Team (SEL) supports students, staff, and families at the P-12 level.  The team consults with principals, school counselors, school psychologists, teachers, administrators and families regarding the social and emotional needs of students. Current research and best practices in social-emotional learning are implemented through a model and coach delivery. Data collection and analysis are used to promote continuous improvement of coaching and SEL program outcomes. Professional development and training of staff is provided to support effective implementation of social-emotional learning in schools. The SEL team utilizes trauma informed practices as a foundation of support.

Committed to Developing Washington’s Most Sought After Graduates

The mission of the district Social Emotional Learning Team is to develop capacity to incorporate SEL in an aligned and equitable system to ensure positive life outcomes for all students in conjunction with families and the community.

In order to meet our mission and support the Social and Emotional pillar of our district five year Strategic Plan, we have developed a multi-year plan that will be updated each year as our work and needs of our students, staff and families change.

 Learning Standards

Washington State adopted Social Emotional Learning (SEL) standards in January of 2020. The SEL Standards, Benchmarks, and Indicators can be found by clicking here: Social Emotional Learning Standards, Benchmarks, and Indicators

Starting in the 2020-21 school year the district Social Emotional Learning Team will work with staff across the district to begin the process of identifying the essential standards we will teach at each grade level, P-12, and the best materials to adopt to meet these standards.
