Superintendent Faculty Advisory Council
About the Council:
The Superintendent's Faculty Advisory Council is comprised of 15 certificated employees, 6 classified staff and union leadership as outlined below:
- One representative (certified or associate teacher) from the Center for Children and Families
- One certified representative from each elementary building (5)
- Two certified representatives from each middle school (4)
- Three certified representatives from WaHi
- One certified representative from Lincoln
- One certified representative from the Carnegie Learning Center
- Two classified staff from each level: elementary(2), MS(2) and HS(2)
- WWVEA President
- PSE President
Intended Purpose:
Working alongside Superintendent Smith, the council will serve as a platform for faculty to share their thoughts, exchange ideas and offer input that would assist the district in delivering on commitments outlined in our Vision 2030 Strategic Plan.
The Council will also offer valuable insight and feedback that will help positively influence district culture and experience as we strive towards our vision of Developing Washington’s Most Sought-After Graduates.
The Council will:
- Serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas and suggestions related to the continued enhancement of WWPS programs and systems;
- Offer feedback and suggestions to the superintendent;
- Serve as a sounding board to the superintendent when the district evaluates current initiatives or explores new enhancements; and,
- Explore ideas that would improve faculty, student and family experiences across the district.
Meeting Format and Additional Information:
The Council will normally meet once a month over Zoom for an hour. Meetings will typically be held on the third Tuesday of every month from 4-5pm throughout the school year. Council members will be compensated for their time.
Interested in Serving on the Council?
Faculty interested in serving are encouraged to check their calendars ahead of applying to be sure that they are able to regularly attend monthly meetings. Selected staff are asked to serve a full school-year term, and may choose to reapply for consideration for additional terms.
Applicants will be selected in collaboration with WWVEA and PSE Presidents with an eye towards a heterogeneous council that is representative of the rich diversity of staff roles, backgrounds and experiences.
