AC units bring promise of better learning conditions
Facilities staff begin installing air conditioners at Walla Walla High School
Facilities and Operations Trades Assistant Chris Young is installing wall unit air conditioners at Walla Walla High School. In August, the school board unanimously voted to allocate approximately $150,000 to install window air conditioning units in the school’s Academic and Science buildings as a short-term fix to improve classroom learning environments.
Young has fabricated special mounting brackets for the 48 air conditioning units set to be in place before the warm weather returns next spring. Walla Walla Electric is upgrading the electrical system to the units per code requirements. The anticipated useful life of the wall units ranges from five to seven years.
