Wa-Hi student develops leadership skills as LEAP ambassador

Walla Walla High School senior Cynthia Montalvo provided an update to the district's Equity and Access Committee about her experiences in the Latino/a Educational Achievement Project, or LEAP. This year she is serving as an ambassador for this statewide program aimed at developing community leaders in the movement for justice and equity through civic engagement programming, increased educational opportunities, advocacy, and community initiatives.

LEAP Ambassadors is a year-long leadership development program that seeks to cultivate young leaders who remain engaged in the civic process as change-agents and community advocates throughout their lives.

Montalvo reported the experience is helping her build confidence, develop skills and find ways to share her knowledge with students at Walla Walla High School.
