Berney students get hands-on history experience

Retired Kettle Falls fourth grade teacher Dwight Morgan visited Berney Elementary this week to teach students about the Fur Trading era, pioneers and other regional history. Students cooked buffalo tongue and chicken over an open fire. They handled artifacts from the era and learned about local roots and clothing. Dwight coordinated the activity with Berney teacher Joe Gribnau. Morgan's grandchildren Ken and Luke Higgins attend Berney Elementary. His daughter Michelle Higgins is a teacher at Wa-Hi.
