District reaches out to CRI to study impact of trauma

This week a group of district staff joined members of community agencies to receive training from The Children’s Resilience Initiative as part of a six part series on self-regulation and the impact of trauma. This six part series is designed to help participants understand the three primary brain states, the behaviors/needs associated with them and how self-regulation provides the foundation for effective and impactful interactions with those being served.

The training focuses on resilience strategies that can buffer the consequences of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) which include physical, sexual and emotional abuse; neglect; loss of a parent; and substance use, drugs or mental illness within a family. The CRI team consists of Jim Sporleder, Sergio Hernandez, Rick Griffin and Brooke Bouchey.
