Lincoln High School student receives Exchange Club award for overcoming barriers

Monday the Exchange Club of Walla Walla honored area youth through the Accepting the Challenge of Excellence (A.C.E.) Award Program. The A.C.E program awards students from local high schools who have exhibited excellence in turning their academic and personal lives around after being faced with significant challenges.

Lincoln High School student Carla Kitts earned first place honors and a $500 scholarship. She has overcome numerous physical and emotional challenges and is now on track to graduate from high school. Katelyn Huesby from Touchet High School was named first runner up and received a $300 scholarship. Samantha Fedderson from Prescott High School and Erika Ibarra Perez from Walla Walla High School received second runner up awards and $200 scholarships. Club member Kim McDaniels is the ACE program coordinator.
