Final touches put on Missy Peterson Memorial benches

The final touches were recently put on the Missy Orrick Peterson Memorial benches at Edison Elementary. The bronze reader was installed by contractors to complete the project.

The Missy Orrick Peterson Memorial benches are located at the front entrance of the school. The benches are arranged to replicate an open book to recognize the passion Missy had for early literacy.

Peterson was a longtime school volunteer and co-founder of the Books for Babes program. She was actively involved in the Explorer Gifted Learning program and a leader in the Parent Teacher Association. Former teacher Kay Barga helped coordinate the bench project.
