Wa-Hi National Honor Society plans fundraiser to support veterans
The Walla Walla High School National Honor Society is sponsoring a fundraiser called "Walk a Mile for a Veteran" Saturday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event begins at the Walla Walla Community College parking lot. Proceeds will be donated to a newly created fund for veterans attending WWCC. Veterans may use the money to purchase books and supplies.

“Anyone can participate and walk a half mile up Mill Creek and receive a food ticket that can be cashed in at the end of the walk for a hamburger, an apple and a drink,” said NHS Advisor Peggy Payne. “Corporate, local businesses and individual sponsors will make a donation per number of people who walk, or they will give a flat donation.”

Thanks to the Walla Walla Union Bulletin for donating a free ad. Tyson meats donated the hamburger meat, Franz is donating a 40 percent discount on the buns and Zwire is providing soda. Broetje donated apples and Columbia REA is donating $2 per walker up to $500.
