Walla Walla schools receive Washington Achievement Awards

Walla Walla Public Schools received notice Walla Walla High School, Blue Ridge Elementary and Prospect Point Elementary have been named recipients of 2012 Washington Achievement Awards. This is the third consecutive year Walla Walla High School has received this award.

“It is so encouraging to see the efforts of students and staff at Prospect Point, Blue Ridge and Walla Walla High School recognized by the state of Washington, said Superintendent Mick Miller. “So many positive initiatives are occurring within in Walla Walla Public Schools and I continue to be so proud of the students and staff throughout our district.”

Washington Achievement Award winners are selected using the Washington Accountability Index and criteria in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Flexibility Waiver. The award is given to elementary, middle, high and comprehensive schools in seven categories: overall excellence, language arts, math, science, extended graduation rate, closing achievement gaps and high progress.

87.5 percent – Prospect Point 5th grade science pass rate
87 percent - Blue Ridge 5th grade science pass rate

77.2 percent – Richland 5th grade science scores
82.7 percent – Bellevue 5th grade science scores
90.3 percent - Mercer Island 5th grade science scores

91.7 percent – Walla Walla High School extended graduation rate

85.4 percent - Richland High School extended graduation rate
