Superintendent Smith Thanks Community

Superintendent Smith thanks community for levy support

In a display of remarkable support, our community recently came together to approve not just one, but two essential levies. The renewal of the Educational Programs and Operations Levy, also referred to as the “Learning Levy,” ensures quality educational programs and opportunities will continue for our students over the next four years. Additionally, the passage of the short-term Outdoor Athletic and Activity Capital Levy provides critical enhancements to our outdoor facilities. As we express our heartfelt gratitude, we also celebrate this momentous occasion as a testament to our collective commitment to the well-being and success of our students and community as a whole.

First and foremost, we extend our sincerest thanks to every community member who supported the renewal of the district’s long-standing Learning Levy. Your continued vote of confidence in our schools speaks volumes about your dedication to providing our students with the resources they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. With this Learning Levy renewal, we can continue to deliver high-quality education, innovative programs, and personalized support that empowers every student to reach their full potential.

Equally deserving of our appreciation is the approval of the Outdoor Athletic and Activity Capital Levy. Your investment in our outdoor facilities demonstrates a profound understanding of the importance of extracurricular activities in fostering holistic development and building a strong sense of community among our students. I also extend special gratitude to the more than 20 volunteers who served on the Outdoor Athletic and Activity Facility Community Advisory Committee who researched and prioritized facility needs. With these funds, we will enhance our athletic fields, upgrade our facilities, and create safe and inclusive spaces where students can pursue their passions and cultivate lifelong skills.

The approval of both levies is a resounding affirmation of our community's values and priorities. It underscores our shared belief in the transformative power of education and extracurricular activities in shaping the future leaders, innovators, and citizens of our community. It is a testament to our collective commitment to providing our students with the tools, opportunities, and support they need to succeed in school and beyond.

As we look ahead to the implementation of these vital initiatives, we are committed to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to us. We will work tirelessly to ensure that every dollar is invested wisely and yields tangible benefits for our students and community. We will also strive to keep our community informed and engaged every step of the way, soliciting input and feedback to ensure that our efforts align with the needs and aspirations of our stakeholders.

In closing, we want to express our profound gratitude to each and every member of our community who supported the Educational Programs and Operations Levy and the Outdoor Athletic and Activity Capital Levy. Your generosity, vision, and commitment to our students are truly inspiring. It serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of our community when we come together for a common purpose as we work together to achieve our vision of Developing Washington’s Most Sought-After Graduates.

With deepest appreciation,

Dr. Wade Smith Superintendent of Schools
