Debate Team update

The Wa-Hi Speech and Debate Team had a busy but wonderful week! By Coach Jean Tobin
On Thursday, December 4, the Debate Team hosted a community presentation at the Wa-Hi Auditorium. The students gave powerful, informative performances and the audience really enjoyed the show. Based on audience vote, we will not be going to war with ISIS, thanks in large part to Kailey Busch's powerful final speech in our Congressional Debate. I was very proud of the students for participating and I know many family members appreciated the opportunity to finally see what their children do every weekend!

On December 6 , we attended the Ephrata Debate Tournament. Eight schools attended (including Wa-Hi): Pasco, Chiawana, Eastmont (Wenatchee), Moses Lake, Ephrata, Othello, Quincy. We had our most successful district showing ever! Walla Walla High School placed 1st in Individual Events, 1st in Debate and 1st Overall. Additionally, for the first time, Wa-Hi placed 1st in Open Lincoln Douglas, 1st in Open Public Forum and 1st in Open Congress! Every member of the team placed in at least one of their events!
