District approves final commissioning report on Southeast Area Technical Skills Center
The school board recently approved the final acceptance of Commissioning Report for the Southeast Area Technical Skills Center marking the end of a seven year process to bring a high school skills center to Walla Walla.

The Washington state legislature, with the strong support of Senator Mike Hewitt and Representatives Maureen Walsh and Terry Nealey, approved $11,519,000 to fund the design development, construction and equipment for the Southeast Area Technical Skills Center during the 2011-13 biennium. Walla Walla Community College leases the land to Walla Walla Public Schools for $1 per year. As a result, this project did not raise local bond rates.

SEA-TECH offers digital media technology, welding, renewable resources and health occupation programs. Partnering districts: Dayton, Waitsburg, Touchet, Prescott and College Place. Students from Walla Walla and all the partner districts attend a morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) block schedule at SEA-TECH. Dennis Matson is the SEA-TECH director.
