Students pass away in car accident

It is with heavy hearts, Walla Walla Public Schools reports Sophomores Aiden Boede and Uziel Bermoy, and Freshman Athena Bentley died in a car accident in the area of 3900 Mill Creek Road, Sunday, May 25 at approximately 3 a.m. Details of the accident are under investigation by the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Department.  

Our thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends. We are all deeply saddened by the news of this tragedy. Walla Walla Public Schools has activated its Griefbusters program to help students and staff members cope with this loss. Please contact Principal Pete Peterson (509.539.0039 / ppeterson@wwps.org) for more details or additional support. The sophomore Biology End of Course exam has been postponed until next week. We currently do not have information regarding a memorial or funeral services. The district will share this information once it is available.

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

  • Before school starts (7:20 a.m.) - GriefBusters team to meet at Wa-Hi
  • Teachers to read statement to students in the morning
  • Griefbusters Safe Room in the Wa-Hi library (counselors on hand for support)
  • Letter home to parents at the end of the school day and then posted on Wa-Hi web page

Rest of the Week:

  • Griefbusters action plan will remain in place as long as it is needed
