On to State!

Wa-Hi cheer teams advance to state
Walla Walla High School Blue and White Cheer Teams qualified for state and will compete in the Washington State Cheer Competition Feb. 4-5 at Battleground High School. The Blue Team qualified for state during its second competition this school year. The White Team made it to state during its third competition. There are 10 cheerleaders per team.

“It was a big goal of mine to get White Team to go because White Team hasn’t qualified for state in four years,” said Wa-Hi Cheer Coach Morgan Arreola. “Blue Team’s state qualifying score is the highest we’ve ever had.”

Blue Team will compete in the advanced skills bracket and perform the highest level of tumbling. The White Team is in the intermediate skill level and does not perform tumbling routines.

“Cheerleading forms a good foundation for the girls and they become a family,” said Arreola. “It’s like a sisterly sibling love that they form over the years. They bring so much excitement, which gets the crowd involved. Our cheerleaders bring another level of excitement to everything we do.”
