Berney Elementary 5th graders achieve success at JA World

This marks the 6th year Berney Elementary has participated in JA BizTown, a unique Junior Achievement capstone program helping students learn the fundamental relationship between academics and how they can be applied in the real world. Teachers Debbie Schade, Tammy Baker and Ilana James embarked on a six week economics curriculum with their 5th grade students culminating in a one day town simulation at the JA World facility in Yakima on Tuesday, May 17.

Students ran banks, managed restaurants, read utility meters, used debit cards and even voted! All businesses ran by Berney students successfully made a profit. This adventure proves to be a highlight for Berney students year after year.
