Talk, They Hear You

SAMHSA’s new “Talk. They Hear You.” campaign mobile app helps parents and caregivers prepare for some of the most important conversations they may ever have with their kids. It shows them how to turn everyday situations into opportunities to talk with their children about alcohol and other drugs, and equips them with the necessary skills, confidence, and knowledge to start and continue these conversations as their kids get older.

Starts with One

The Starts with One campaign is designed to inform and educate young adults, their parents, and older adults about the dangers of prescription drug misuse and the importance of safe storage, use, and disposal.

As a parent, you can approach suicide prevention in the same way you do other safety or health issues for your children. By educating yourself, you can learn what puts kids at greatest risk for suicide – and what protects them most strongly.

Safer Homes Suicide Awareness

The Safer Homes Coalition Members, led by Forefront Suicide Prevention and the Second Amendment Foundation, is comprised of firearms retailers, second amendment rights groups, health care providers, and suicide prevention experts who came together around a single goal to save lives. They provide universal rules for safe storage for medications and firearms along with training for a variety of groups.

Hazel

Hazel Health

Walla Walla Public Schools offers mental health services through a partnership with Hazel Health. With Hazel, students can speak with a licensed therapist from school or at home. Walla Walla Public Schools has made these services available so that all students have access to mental health services, without a long wait time to see a therapist. If you have questions about the referral process, please contact your child's school counselor. Or, contact Hazel at 509-390-2292.

Local Supports

The Health Center

They offer services at the following WWPS locations: Pioneer, WaHi, and Lincoln. Your child must be enrolled at one of these locations to access services through The Health Center. They offer integrative services, encompassing mental health care, medical care, care coordination, and social support. If you are interested please connect with your child's school counselor.

Blue Mountain Health Cooperative

In order to maintain the mission of the walk-in clinic, they allow appointments to be booked on the same day for those 13 or over. Walk-ins without an appointment are always welcome. Please email them at bluemthealthcooperative@gmail.com or call their office for availability at (509) 973-5788.
