Native American Dance & Drum Performance

Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation traditional dance and drum performance
Today all district 4th and 5th grade students were treated to a Native American dance and drum performance by members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR). This event was originally scheduled for November but was postponed due to poor weather conditions. Students also learned more about Native American history and culture during the one-hour performance. Several students were also invited to the stage to join in a friendship circle dance to close out the performance.
Walla Walla Public Schools is working with CTUIR to further enhance opportunities for students to explore the heritage, culture and experience of Indigenous peoples both historically and in American life today.
