This month Superintendent Dr. Wade Smith congratulates Walla Walla Public Schools board members for being named Board of the Year for medium-sized school districts. They will be recognized at the WSSDA conference later this month.

Superintendent Smith announced the development of the new consolidated Family Involvement website which makes it easier for families to find important information on curriculum adoptions, how library books are selected, state required sexual health curriculum lessons and much more.

He also announced November is Native American Heritage Month and that the district is partnering with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) for a special performance in Walla Walla Nov. 17. During this event, all district 4th and 7th grade students will travel to Cordiner Hall on the campus of Whitman College to learn more about Native American culture and heritage.

And finally, Superintendent Smith salutes all veterans this month in honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
