Garrison’s Girls on the Run program helps girls find inner strength
This school year Garrison Middle School formed the Girls on the Run club to help girls learn more about themselves and accept who they are. Club coaches are Garrison staff members Yaneth Hernandez and Becky Jo Gifford and Dr. Christina Kahulman.
The club meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. Girls on the Run lessons aim to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength. The lessons emphasize the important connection between physical and emotional health. Girls work on setting goals through exercises and discussions.
Girls on the Run program started March 16, 2022 and ends with a non-competitive 5k run on May 21 in the Tri-Cities. There are 15 girls in the program.
