College Place Public Schools joins transportation cooperative

Walla Walla Public Schools welcomes College Place Public Schools to the Southeast Washington Transportation Cooperative effective July 1. College Place Public Schools joins regional districts Touchet, Prescott and Dixie in the transportation cooperative, managed by Walla Walla Public Schools, to provide discounted school bus maintenance and repair service. College Place Public Schools has 13 school buses and four support vehicles which will receive service in the cooperative.

“We are so happy to have them join us in keeping kids safe,” said Southeast Washington Transportation Cooperative Director John Griffith. “We will provide them with all maintenance protocols necessary to ensure school bus safety and extend the school bus operational life.”

The Southeast Washington Transportation Cooperative also provides school bus inspection support, bus driver professional development, school bus preventative maintenance and record keeping services. Griffith says the partnership benefits both schools districts.

“College Place will enjoy being a part of this Co-Op as we will have four mechanics who have dedicated their professional careers specializing in school bus maintenance,” said Griffith. “College Place will also have the benefit of lower labor shop rates per hour and no mark-up on parts.”
