Summer Sol wraps up first session; Second session underway
Friday, July 16, marked the end of the first session of Walla Walla Public Schools' Summer Sol program. Four weeks into this newly formed summer opportunity, more than 1700 students have accessed at least one aspect of the program ranging from academic acceleration, credit-based classes, enrichment opportunities, and dual language and special education services.
“In addition to the hundreds of WWPS personnel supporting Summer Sol, the dedication of our community partnership programs have allowed for increased high-quality, experiential, and/or recreational experiences for these students,” said Brent Cummings, Director of Accelerated Learning and Support who is overseeing the program. “Serving 10 campuses across the district, the transportation and summer lunch service programs offered through Summer Sol have removed barriers to access and alleviated stress for many working families. As we head into the second session of Summer Sol, we are excited to continue momentum from the first four weeks and meet the many different needs of our students and households.”
The Summer Sol second session continues through August 13. Learn more about Summer Sol at: summersol.org
