Speech & Debate Team Win

Walla Walla High School Debate Team takes 1st Place in virtual tournament

Congratulations to the Walla Walla High School Speech and Debate team for placing 1st overall in last weekend’s December Dash Speech and Debate Virtual Tournament. Wa-Hi’s team of nine students competed against nine teams from across the region during the District 5/6 tournament. Speech events were pre-recorded and loaded on YouTube for judging. The Debate portion of the event was held Friday evening featuring three rounds utilizing the Lincoln/Douglas platform.

Wa-Hi’s team is coached by Keith Swanson and will compete in six regular season tournaments. State qualifying events are in February with the state tournament in March. The team will compete in the Chiawana Tournament this weekend against several teams from across the state.
