Whitman Teaches the Movement shifts focus to Cesar Chavez

The Whitman Teaches the Movement program extended this spring to focus on Cesar Chavez lessons at Walla Walla High School and Lincoln HS. The Whitman Teaches the Movement program features Whitman College students working the high school students to increase the knowledge of civil rights issues. The Cesar Chavez program was a continuation of January’s event which focused on Martin Luther King, Jr. Chavez was an American farm worker, labor leader and civil rights activist, who, with Dolores Huerta, co-founded the National Farm Workers Association which later became the United Farm Workers union (UFW). Thanks to the following Whitman College students for volunteering; Maggie Ayau, Allison Bolgiano, Eliza Vistica, Claire Martini, Jonathan Luo, and Arden Robinette.
