2006-2007 school year calendars are now available in the district’s central office (364 S. Park St.). All students and staff will receive a copy of the calendar at the beginning of the school year.

What do you love most about your job?: The people I work with, challenges of maintaining all the records, and developing new procedures.

Most memorable life experience: Which one?! Wedding; birth of children; watching our son-in-law come into the waiting room carrying our first grandson.

Tell us something about yourself that nobody else would know: I took first place in a hopscotch tournament when I was 10, and that’s hopping on my left foot! (I’m left handed)


District names new Wa-Hi Assistant Principal

Walla Walla Public Schools Board of Directors during a special board meeting Wednesday, June 28 named Brett Cox new assistant principal of Walla Walla High School . Cox will succeed Wa-Hi Assistant Principal Jim Boyce who resigned the position just days after accepting — citing personal reasons for his decision.

Cox, who is bilingual (English and Spanish), has spent the past two years as Assistant Principal at Oakland Bay Junior High School in Shelton , WA . Cox was responsible for discipline, attendance, and numerous school safety supervision positions.

Cox also served as a Dean of Students at Frontier Junior High School in the Bethel School District in Spanaway , WA . Cox also has experience teaching Spanish and Material Science/Construction at the high school level.

Cox earned his P-12 Principal Certificate and Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from City University and completed his undergraduate studies at the Central Washington University (CWU) with a major in Industrial Supervision. He also earned his initial teaching certificate and Career and Technical Education certification from CWU.

August WASL retakes scheduled

The August WASL will be administered August 7-10, 2006, at Wa-Hi (reading, math and writing only). Online registration is now available through July 9 at: www.k12.wa.us/waslregistration or by toll-free phone 1-866-400-WASL (9275).

The August WASL is open to any current tenth or eleventh grader who wishes to retake the assessment and registers in advance. Participation in the Summer Institute in not a prerequisite for taking the August WASL. Students must be able to give their Secure Student Identifier (SSID) 10 digit ID number when they register.
