Walla Walla Public Schools
Walla Walla School District recognizes and appreciates collaboration between parents/guardians and schools in meeting the educational needs of the students.
Students are generally encouraged to attend the elementary, middle and/or high school located in their attendance area as designated by the district. Attendance areas provide a balance among number of students, available classrooms, and teaching staff. When unusual circumstances exist, exceptions shall be considered based upon parent/guardian request (open enrollment) and/or district need (involuntary transfer and overload) in accordance with procedures developed by the superintendent.
Placement of Students in Districtwide Programs
There are a number of districtwide programs that the district chooses to locate at specific schools. Students may apply to open enroll to the schools at which these programs are located. However, placement in these programs shall be according to qualifications or needs and space available regardless of the student's attendance area or open enrollment status.
The superintendent will develop and publish appropriate procedures to implement this policy.
