SMS Messaging for Instructional Communication
Walla Walla Public Schools uses SMS (text messaging) as an optional communication method to support instruction, particularly for students enrolled in virtual or hybrid courses who prefer text messaging over email. SMS messages may be used by authorized staff to share course-related information such as reminders, scheduling updates, and instructional support. Participation in SMS messaging is voluntary, and consent may be withdrawn at any time.
By opting in to receive SMS messages from Walla Walla Public Schools, you acknowledge and agree to our SMS messaging practices as outlined in our SMS Terms and Conditions and SMS Privacy Policy. Message frequency may vary based on instructional needs. Standard message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message.
SMS Terms and Conditions
SMS Consent and Use
By providing your mobile phone number and opting in, you consent to receive SMS or MMS messages from Walla Walla Public Schools. Messages may include instructional communication, course-related updates, scheduling information, and other school-related messages.
Consent to receive SMS messages is voluntary and is not required as a condition of enrollment or participation in district programs.
Providing Accurate Contact Information
You confirm that the mobile number you provide belongs to you or that you are authorized to receive messages at that number. You agree to notify the District if your phone number changes by contacting the staff member(s) using it for communication.
Automated and Non-Automated Messages
By opting in, you consent to receive both automated and non-automated SMS messages from the District related to your educational relationship with Walla Walla Public Schools. Message frequency may vary.
Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier.
Opt-Out Instructions
You may opt out of SMS messaging at any time by replying:
STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT
You may also opt out by emailing helpdesk@wwps.org. After opting out, you may receive a final confirmation message.
Help and Support
For assistance, reply HELP to any SMS message or contact helpdesk@wwps.org.
Carrier Participation
SMS services are supported by most major U.S. carriers. Delivery is subject to carrier availability. Carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.
Data Collection
In connection with SMS messaging, the District may collect your mobile number, message content, timestamps, and carrier information for communication and service delivery purposes.
Service Changes
Walla Walla Public Schools reserves the right to modify or discontinue SMS messaging services at any time.
Participation Requirements
By participating, you confirm that you:
- Are at least 18 years old, or have parent/guardian involvement as appropriate
- Possess a device capable of receiving SMS messages
- Are a subscriber of a participating wireless carrier

Introduction
Walla Walla Public Schools (“the District,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) values the privacy of our students, families, and staff. This SMS Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information when individuals opt in to receive SMS (text) messages from the District. Once you opt out, you will no longer receive SMS messages unless you provide renewed consent.

The District implements reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children’s Privacy
SMS messaging services are not intended for children under the age of 13 without appropriate parent or guardian involvement, consistent with federal and state student privacy laws. The District does not knowingly collect SMS information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.
