2020-21 School Year: Electronic Device Protection Plan

To ensure a comprehensive and engaging educational experience for all, Walla Walla Public Schools will be checking out technology to all students to support high quality learning during the 2020-21 school year. Whether in Comprehensive Distance Learning 2.0, the AM/PM model, or participating in Walla Walla Online, all students, regardless of grade, will be issued a Chromebook device to support live videoconference classes, access their digital learning, and complete necessary assignments. Additionally, depending on certain circumstances, students/families may also be issued Wi-Fi hotspots for connectivity, laptops for upper-level technical courses and specific devices for some special needs students.

Walla Walla Public Schools has developed an extremely low-cost way for families to help protect themselves from potential costs associated with damage, loss or theft of district owned devices checked out to their student during the 2020-21 school year.

How It Works

Students/families will be automatically enrolled in the Electronic Device Protection Plan program (EDPP) when technology is checked out at the beginning of the school year. Similar to how textbooks are handled, each device is individually barcoded and checked out each student utilizing our district’s digital inventory system. The low-cost EDPP fee is applied to you/your student’s account at the time of checkout and covers all items issued to them. Those who wish to decline EDPP protection must do so by completing the Waiver Form (available at https://www.wwps.org/departments/technology/tech-forms) and submitting it to Melinda Gee, Business Office, (mgee@wwps.org / 509.526.6765) no later than September 18. Please be advised that parents who opt out of protection will be responsible for all costs resulting from damage, theft or other loss. The EDPP will cover one school year (August through June) and is non-refundable.
