Walla Walla Public Schools Print
Shop offers district staff a variety of reprographic
services. The Print Shop is located at 325 South
Park Street (across from the District Office) and
is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Print Shop telephone number is 527-3014.
Approximately seven million pieces
of paper pass through Walla Walla Public Schools
Print Shop equipment each year. Print Shop staff
use an offset press and high speed copy machines
as the primary method of reproduction. Duplication
of original prints, bookletmaking, and folding are
the Print Shop’s primary functions. Services
are limited to in-house equipment. Some types of
binding (comb, etc.), drilling, laminating, counting,
and other finishing services ARE NOT available at
the Print Shop. Customers requesting services not
available at the Print Shop will be notified to
determine if their job should be sent to an outside
vendor (AT THEIR EXPENSE) for production. Print
Shop staff will provide complimentary cost estimates
for services not available in the Print Shop.
All printing requests must be
submitted with a request form (see page 4 for example)
and a camera-ready original. Print request forms
are available through your printing liaison, office
secretary or at the Print Shop. Incomplete request
forms or poor quality originals are subject to return,
and thus delay job turnaround time.
Due to large volumes of requests received, Print
Shop staff encourage five days lead time, however
most jobs are returned within two days. To better
serve our customers, requests submitted without
five days lead time will be reviewed on a case-by-case
basis to determine turnaround time. Large quantity
or specialty printing requests may require additional
time. Classroom materials, parental communications
and administrative forms will receive the highest
priority. Personal and logo notepads, business cards,
bookmarks and other materials may be deferred if
circumstances warrant. Printing orders are delivered
to customers on Tuesday and Thursdays (unless other
arrangements have been made).
PLEASE NOTE!
The last three weeks of the school year and the
first two months of the new school year are particularly
high volume printing times. Printing requests submitted
during these periods may require more lead time.
Print Shop personnel strive for the quickest turnaround
possible! Help them out by submitting order forms
as soon as possible.
Originals must be submitted in
black ink or print (from laser or ink jet printers).
Originals done in pencil or colored inks do not
reproduce well. Also, originals on dark colored
paper do not print well. For best results, black
felt-tip ink pens should be used for signatures.
NOTE: PHOTOGRAPHS DO NOT REPRODUCE WELL
ON COPY MACHINES.
Print Shop staff are not responsible
for “proofing” materials submitted for
printing. Reprinting, as a result of proofing errors,
is expensive and creates delays. Please proof all
materials prior to submitting for production.
| Copyright & Other
Restrictions |
The copyright law of the United
States governs the making of reproductions or photocopies
of copyrighted material. Copyright legislation is
intended to provide incentive and to protect the
financial interests of creative individuals by prohibiting
others from copying or otherwise misusing their
works. If found guilty of willfully infringing a
copyright for private or commercial financial gain,
the penalty could be $10,000 or imprisonment for
up to one year or both. Even when the motive for
a violation is altruistic (for example, providing
materials for students while saving taxpayer dollars),
such noncompliance not only endangers the educational
enterprise, but undermines the image commonly referred
to in education laws as “teacher as exemplar.”
Please keep in mind that stickers,
greeting cards, coloring books, Disney products,
cartoons from magazines and the newspaper, and magazine
articles are copyrighted materials and must have
written authorized approval to reproduce.
Walla Walla Public Schools Print
Shop staff members reserve the right to refuse to
accept a printing request if, in their judgement,
fulfillment of the request would involve violation
of the copyright law. Print Shop staff will print
copyright material only if the requestor can provide
written permission to use the copyrighted material(s).
PRINT SHOP STAFF WILL
NOT PRINT ANY MATERIAL(S) OF A RELIGIOUS OR POLITICAL
NATURE.
