BLUEPRINT FOR TOMORROW: Culminating Project* (see below)
CERTIFICATE OF MASTERY: WASL (Washington Assessment of Student Learning)
Walla Walla High School Culminating Project When students enter high school, they are embarking on a journey. The Blueprint for Tomorrow project is a graduation requirement for Walla Walla High School students that is designed to help them obtain the most from their high school experience as well as better prepare them for success after graduation. It is also designed to help students achieve the Walla Walla High School Exit Outcomes as well as Washington State’s Learning Goals.
The skills and resources necessary to complete this project will be learned through a variety of sources, such as regular course work, advisory meetings, extra-curricular activities and the Blueprint for Tomorrow handbook.
The Blueprint for Tomorrow project includes five portfolios (student work, academic history, career, citizenship, and personal portfolio) and a culminating oral presentation which will occur during student’s senior year. Each portfolio targets specific Exit Outcomes and State Learning Goals. The Blueprint handbook contains checklists and descriptions for each portfolio. The advisor will explain the packet during advisory meetings.
EFOLIO: A large portion of the Blueprint Project will be created electronically using the Discover website, which is a career pathway exploration and portfolio management system. The Discover software allows students to take career, interest, skills and other inventory assessments and it suggests possible career pathways and higher education opportunities for students to research and explore. Students can build resumes, cover letters, and other personal inventory information on the website portfolio. The students will create their portfolios in Social Studies classes during their 9th grade year and will update the information during subsequent years at the high school. The student will be able to log on to the website and access their portfolios from any computer with the internet access, including from student’s home computer. Parents are strongly encouraged to explore the Discover website with their students.
The Blueprint for Tomorrow is a graduation requirement for Walla Walla High School students beginning with the graduating class of 2008. Specific grade level requirements for the culminating project must be completed each year.
