The annual Math Counts competition comes to Garrison Middle School Saturday (March 16) as approximately 170 4th and 5th graders test their skills. The Kick-Off assembly begins at 9 a.m, followed by the individual task. The team task starts 10:30 a.m. with the awards ceremony at noon. Coaches at each elementary have spent weeks working through practice problems and a variety of team tasks in preparation for the competition.
“The goal this year was to include as many students as possible, and adapt the format to be more inclusive of all levels of math proficiency,” said Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Christy Krutulis. “It was important to teachers that any student who wanted to participate had the option too, and we revised the format this year to allow this to happen.”
