Big Fish pit orchestra takes top honors at 5th Avenue awards show

Congratulations to Walla Walla High School Band Director Andrew Ueckert and the Big Fish Spring Musical pit orchestra for receiving the “Outstanding Orchestra” award at the 5th Avenue High School Musical Awards show in Seattle Monday, June 12. Big Fish also received Honorable Mention awards for Outstanding Music Direction, Outstanding Lighting Design, and Outstanding Stage Crew. Big Fish was nominated for eight awards and received an invitation to perform live at the awards show. Special thanks to Kristin Glaeser for her leadership as director of this award winning play!

“We are the #1 ranked pit orchestra of the 122 musical theater productions adjudicated by Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theater Company for 2017 and I couldn’t be prouder,” said Ueckert. “This a great bunch of students and being part of any state champion team is a rare accomplishment.”
