New Green Park bus pull out lane enhances safety

Thank you so much to all the motorists for your patience and attention to safety as Isaacs Avenue construction continues near Green Park Elementary. The district announces exciting news as it relates to the construction project. Walla Walla Public Schools is developing a bus pull out lane on the south-side of Green Park off Isaacs Ave. This will greatly improve safety by allowing school buses to be located in a separate area from regular parent pick-up and drop-off zones. Students riding school buses will load and unload from school buses in the bus lane keeping them in a safe area away from traffic. They will enter school on the south-side of the school building.

The school’s main entrance will continue to be the north-side on Green Park Lane. The addition of the bus pull out lane will allow us to create a designated parent pick-up and drop-off area on Green Park Lane. The district will also be able to add visitor parking on Green Park Lane in front of the school to make it more convenient for parents and visitors to access the building.

These improvements vastly enhance visibility, lessen traffic congestion and keep school buses and cars at a safe distance from each other. Construction will continue throughout the summer on Isaacs Avenue on the south-side of Green Park. The bus pull out lane is expected to be completed by the time school begins in August, and will not be used until construction of Phase I is wrapped up in late fall.
