School garden coordinators needed

Walla Walla Valley Farm-to-School is helping schools locate garden coordinators.  A school garden coordinator can be a parent or grandparent at the school or a community member interested in gardening and sharing garden time with elementary students.

During the busy months of Fall (September, October) and Spring (March, April, May), coordinators may spend 8 to 18 hours per week preparing for and overseeing garden lessons and club activities. During the winter months (November, December, January and February) the coordinator may spend 5 to 8 hours per week in trainings and workshops, garden planning, seed sale fundraisers, overseeing cooking classes and meetings and reporting to help build garden community support.

Coordinators receive a stipend, training, lesson activities and materials. Green Park, Sharpstein, Edison and Prospect Point Elementary will benefit greatly from involvement of a committed school garden coordinator.  If interested, contact Beth Thiel at beth.wwvf2S@gmail.com
