Edison Principal Finalists Meet & Greet Sessions

Finalists named for Edison Elementary Principal position

Walla Walla Public Schools announces Julie Perron, David Rodriguez and Eric Franzen have been named finalists for the Edison Elementary Principal position following an extensive applicant screening process. Parents and staff are encouraged to meet candidates Thursday, April 27 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. during public meet and greet sessions at the Edison Elementary Library. Attendees are asked to complete candidate feedback cards and be present, if possible, for all three candidate sessions. Edison Elementary is transitioning to a schoolwide Dual Language School for English/Spanish language acquisition. All three finalists are bilingual in English and Spanish.

Perron is currently serving as Principal of Whitaker School (K-6) in the Buena Park School District in Southern California. She has principal experience at Wilson Elementary (Costa Mesa, CA,) Grant Elementary (Spokane, WA), Midway Elementary (Mead, WA) and Cornelius Dual Language Elementary (Forrest Grove, OR). Perron also has 10 years of experience as a dual language teacher, is an adjunct professor and has a PhD in Leadership Studies.

Rodriguez is an Administrative Intern at West View Elementary in the Burlington-Edison School District in Burlington, WA. He is also a first grade Dual Language Program teacher at West View Elementary. He has seven years teaching experience. He has also helped coordinate English Language Learners summer school programs in the Burlington-Edison School District and was a school board member in the Mabton School District for two years.

Franzen has four years of administrative experience, including assistant principal at Kirkwood Elementary in the Toppenish School District and three years as principal at Castle Rock School Elementary in the Castle Rock School District. In addition, he is currently serving as a second grade dual language (Spanish) teacher at Carriage Crest Elementary in Kent, WA. He also has teaching experience in the Federal Way and Tacoma School Districts. He worked as a volunteer in Guatemala for two years prior to becoming an educator.

Current Principal Jennifer Cowgill is returning to the classroom to help develop the district’s new middle school Spanish World Language Program. Her last day as Edison Elementary Principal is June 30. The new principal will report July 1.
