Wa-Hi water main break forces cancellation of summer school and youth activities

A major leak in one of the original, 1963 vintage water mains forced a schoolwide water shut off at Walla Walla High School Wednesday afternoon prompting Principal Pete Peterson to cancel all classes, activities and athletics scheduled Thursday, June 23.

"This is one of two major water issues due to failing pipes in the foundation of the building,” Peterson said. “Maintenance is doing a great job trying to keep up with a failing 53-year-old infrastructure." 

Facilities and Operations Director Dan Johnson said crews are onsite to make repairs, but it was too early to determine how long the water would remain off.
