Four-way stop near Sharpstein

City installs four-way stop near Sharpstein to improve safety
City of Walla Walla staff installed a four-way stop sign at Palouse and Whitman Street over spring break to help improve safety. Palouse Street is often used by commuters and had no stop signs from Chestnut to Poplar Street making it difficult for children and families to safely cross to get to and from Sharptein Elementary. The Sharpstein PTA and residents in the neighborhood organized a campaign to get stop signs installed. The city studied the issue and made the change last week.

“I personally want to thank all the city officials, and Ki Bealey and Neil Chavre in particular, who responded to the neighborhood's request for increased safety for our school children in such a thorough and professional way,” said Karri Bruce, Sharpstein parent and Catherine Street neighbor. “The project was completed in the timeframe that was suggested and we are very appreciative.”
