Superintendent Miller resigns

Walla Walla Public Schools Superintendent Mick Miller is resigning his position effective June 30 to accept an assistant superintendent position with Northeast Washington Educational Service District 101 in Spokane. Miller is in his fourth school year with Walla Walla Public Schools. Miller’s last working day with the district will be Friday, June 20.

The school board will seek an interim superintendent for the 2014-2015 school year. The position will be posted on the district web site (www.wwps.org) beginning June 4 and all applications must be returned by 4 p.m. Friday, June 13. The interim superintendent employment posting will also be available on the Washington State School Directors Association and Washington Association of School Administrators’ websites. Applications will be reviewed in executive session by the school board Tuesday, June 17. Interviews will be scheduled following the school board review of the candidates.

“We thank Superintendent Miller for his four years of service and wish him well in his next career move,” said School Board President Anne Golden, “Our focus now is on finding a highly qualified interim superintendent to continue to lead our outstanding school district during this leadership transition.”

Miller was the superintendent of the Deer Park School District in Deer Park WA for six years prior to coming to Walla Walla Public Schools.

“I appreciate having the opportunity to work with such an outstanding staff of caring educators,” said Miller. “My belief is the best years for Walla Walla Public Schools are yet to come.”
