Walla Walla registered voters will receive their ballots in the mail soon. The Walla Walla County Auditor mailed out the ballots today and they must be returned by April 22. Please remember to vote.

We Listened: Key points of the bond:
- Greatest need: Science facilities (current facilities are 50-years-old, too small and lack required technology and equipment).
- Phased approach: To allow community more time to improve the 50-year-old school.
- Lower cost: This bond project is $10.2 million, $59.4 million less than the 2013 Wa-Hi proposal.

Cost to taxpayers:
- 30 cents per $1000 of assessed value
- $5 per month or $60 per year increase on a home valued at $200,000
- Edison bond paid in full December 2018

Academic Impact:
- Current facility limits science lab opportunities.
- Three teachers are in classrooms with no labs and must use restrooms to access water and for lab clean-up.
- All science teachers lack the necessary space, equipment, technology, ventilation and lab set-up needed for today’s learning.
- Science education, especially Advanced Placement science courses, are linked to higher SAT scores.
