Walla Walla Public Schools board member resigns position

Walla Walla Public Schools board member resigns position

Walla Walla Public Schools Board of Directors approved the resignation of school board member Max Carrera during the May 7, 2013 director’s meeting. Carrera will resign his seat effective August 1, 2013.

Carrera is currently serving year two of his second four year term. He is chairing the Lincoln High School Location and Facility Committee and wants to conclude this work before his time on the school board is completed. Carrera cites additional demands on his time, personally and professionally, as factors for needing to resign his position

“It has been a pleasure to serve on the school board and I feel honored to have been a part of a group of people who I deeply respect,” said Carrera, a 1985 Walla Walla High School graduate.
 .
The Board of Directors will begin a process August 2, 2013 to appoint a person to complete Carrera’s term. The school board has 90 days to complete this process. Application forms and additional details on the appointment process will be made available August 2. The newly appointed director will then stand for election November 2015.

“Mr. Carrera has been a dedicated member of the Board of Directors and has contributed greatly to the success of Walla Walla Public Schools,” said Superintendent Mick Miller.
