Each year the Walla Walla Columbia Retired School Employees Association provides 10 mini-grants of $100 to active members in Walla Walla and Columbia County schools.

The mission of Walla Walla-Columbia School Retirees
Association is to:
- Develop, propose, and implement action that will
benefit all school retirees.
- Propose legislation and legislative action that will
enhance school retirees’ lives.
- Foster involvement by school retirees in educational
activities and organizations.
- Represent all present and future Washington State
School retirees, both classified and certificated.
Our activities include:
- Monthly luncheon meetings (September to May)
with programs of educational and community issues

- Provide two scholarships of $1000 each to eligible
student teachers who graduated from high school
in Walla Walla or Columbia Counties.
- Provide ten mini-grants of $100 each to enhance
classroom materials and projects of active members.
- Deliver “goodie” bags to “active” members to
brighten their days.
- Meet with area State legislators to discuss issues
that affect education and retirement.
- Sponsoring retirement seminars.
- Communicating to members through newsletters.
- Provide community service , including volunteer
activities reported to RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer
Program).
- Support State lobbying efforts as a “watchdog” of
pension legislation.
The Walla Walla-Columbia School
Retirees Association luncheon meetings are held the second Monday
of the month from September through May. Unless announced otherwise,
the meetings are held in the Walla Walla Public Schools Administration
Building, in the Board Room, 364 South Park St.
Members of the board meet on Thursday the week before the luncheons
to discuss the agenda.

Each winner will receive $1000 for the coming year as they complete their student teaching. WWCSRA selects two education students by a thorough review of all applications who will be doing student teaching during the coming year.
Scholarship Winners Announced
Karl Loree, a graduate of Walla Walla Valley Academy and a student at Walla Walla University, will student teach at WWVA in chemistry and mathematics in the fall of 2010.
Lacy McCuistion comes from Dayton High School and Washington State University with a major in Elementary Special Education. Lacy will student teach beginning in January, 2011 in special education.
