School Closure procedures:
• All parents and staff will get a call (at approximately 6:15 a.m.) via the US Netcom system (Spanish speaking parents will also get a message in Spanish)

• Media will be notified (Radio and TV)

• A message will be posted on the district website

• An e-mail will be sent out to people who have signed up for “E-News” via the district website

• During two-hour delays, no breakfast services will be offered and AM Preschool will not be held

(*The district will attempt to have all this in place by 6:30 a.m. or sooner)

What about Wednesdays for secondary students (grades 6-12) during a two-hour delay?
There is no Wednesday “delayed start” if the district is in a two-hour delay. Secondary students WILL NOT be starting two hours after the Wednesday delayed start time. They will be starting two hours after the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday start times.

“Students and staff accomplished that purpose by laughing together, playing together, and talking life together,” DeBritz said.

Wa-Hi ASB officers began planning the weekend last spring.

“The weekend’s success was the result of months spent dreaming and planning,” DeBritz said.

Brad Henning was the speaker for the weekend, and his talks paved the way for junior leaders to facilitate small-group discussion on all types of relationships. Both Henning and special guest musician Jonah Werner received rave reviews from students and staff, DeBritz said.

“I am proud of the leadership that the ASB Leadership students displayed at the Big Blue Weekend,” DeBritz said. “They took ownership of the weekend and led their peers and even adults in a positive way—I am excited to see the impact on Wa-Hi that this weekend will have over the next few years.”

A 60 second radio spot highlighting Monahan begins playing today on several stations. A fun, photo-filled newsletter and the radio spot will be posted on the district website (www.wwps.org -- A to Z section) next week.

She began her career with the district working in the Business Office as the secretary to the Business Manager. Johnston then transferred to the Personnel Department in 1998. She was named Assistant Director of Personnel in 2002.

“I’m excited to move into the Business Manager position and look forward to working with the staff in the Business Office as well as all of Support Services and the people out in the buildings,” Johnston said. “I have a good foundation for this position and want everyone to know that I’m here to support our staff and students in any way possible.”

Johnston has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from City University. She and her husband Bob have two children who attended Walla Walla Public Schools and are now in college.

“Campeau came to the school district with a strong background in Human Resources Management,” Deputy Superintendent Dr. Bill Jordan said. “She has more than 14 years experience in this field.”

Campeau has a Bachelors degree from the University of Washington in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources. She began her career as a Personnel Administrator at Tandem Computers in Cupertino, CA. Campeau returned to Seattle and spent three years as a Human Resources Assistant for Simpson Timber Company and almost seven years for UniSea, Inc. as an Employee Relations Manager. She also was employed as a Human Resources Generalist for Molbak’s Greenhouse and Nursery in Woodinville, WA, before choosing to move back to her hometown of Walla Walla and be a stay-at-home mom.

Campeau has been extremely active in Walla Walla schools as a volunteer, working in leadership capacities with the PTA and Explorers Parent Organizations. She received the Art Regier “Volunteer of the Year” award in 1999.

She worked part-time in Financial Aid for Whitman College, and for a short time at the Walla Walla Chamber of Commerce, before returning to her career in Human Resources by accepting the Personnel Secretary position with Walla Walla Public Schools.

“My experience is strongest in staffing and recruitment, employee relations and communications,” Campeau said. “I am thrilled with the opportunity to function in this capacity for Walla Walla Public Schools. I look forward to developing strong relationships throughout the district in my new role.”

Campeau grew up in Walla Walla, attending Sharpstein Elementary, Pioneer Junior High School, and Walla Walla High School. She and her husband Steve have two children at Walla Walla High School - daughter Ryan is a Junior and son Jake is a Freshman.

“This program is student-driven and features many numbers by soloists and small groups,” Wa-Hi Choral Director Norb Rossi said. “It is our traditional “kick-off” for the Holiday season.”
