Public meet & greet with new Wa-Hi Principal next week
Walla Walla Public Schools is planning a public meet and greet with the new Walla Walla High School Principal Darcy Weisner Tuesday, June 6 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the district board room (364 S. Park St.)

Last week Weisner was named the new principal of Walla Walla High School to succeed current Principal Brian Pendleton who announced in March his intentions to resign at the end of the school year.

Weisner has spent the past three years as Assistant Principal at John R. Rogers High School in Spokane’s District 81. Rogers High School has nearly 1,700 students and is in the state’s 4A classification.

Weisner has demonstrated experience in curriculum, instruction and assessment practices, and has shown an ability to work effectively with teachers to improve instruction using data to drive decision making. Weisner spent 20 years as a high school classroom teacher in four school districts throughout the state of Washington. He has extensive educational training in clinical supervision, Understanding by Design, Mentor Matters, and developing small learning communities within large comprehensive high school settings.

“We hope people will make time to come and meet our new high school principal,” Deputy Superintendent Dr. Bill Jordan said. “We are excited to have Darcy on board and he is anxious to meet staff, parents, students and members of the community.”

For more information about this event, contact Communications Director Mark Higgins at (509) 526-6716.

Teaching and Learning Director Oscar Graybill bids farewell
“Hello Friends and Colleagues,

“Some of you know, and others of you do not know, that I am changing full-time careers.

“I have resigned my position as Director of Teaching and Learning for Walla Walla Public Schools effective June 30, 2006, to dedicate all my time and energy to my educational consulting businesses. I have been working with these businesses part-time for many years, and I have decided now to pursue my passion and work exclusive on these businesses. For those of you who are interested in more information about these endeavors, you can visit www.SocraticSeminars.com to read about Socratic Seminars Northwest and Dialogue Leadership Northwest.

“I have truly enjoyed my 15 years in Walla Walla Public Schools as an English teacher and volleyball coach at Wa-Hi, and the last two years as Director of Teaching and Learning in the central office. My wife April and I will continue to reside in Walla Walla as I travel the nation serving the wider educational and business communities.

“I value my many friendships in Walla Walla and I look forward to continuing those as I embark on this exciting new chapter of my life.

“Thanks for all your support over the years, and for all that you contribute to the lives of the children in Walla Walla Pubic Schools.”

Oscar (Digger, that is)
