Jump Start the school year!
Walla Walla Public Schools is excited to announce Jump StartED 2016. This dynamic opportunity offers participants three paid days (per diem) of local professional learning August 9-11. Jump StartED 2016 focuses on teachers as learners, professional learning communities, and integrating technology in learning, both for students and teachers. We plan to offer a variety of breakout sessions to meet the professional learning needs of all teachers and instructional staff. Jeff Utecht: He is an educational technology consultant, educator and author. He holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Technology as well as his administrative certification through Washington State. Jeff began his career in the Elementary Classroom. He has started numerous businesses aimed at helping educators teach in a new connected world. Joellen Killion: She is Senior Advisor for Learning Forward. As Deputy Executive Director of Learning Forward, she led a number of initiatives related to examining the link between professional development and student learning, and led the revision process for the new Standards for Professional Learning. She has extensive experience in professional development planning, design, implementation, and evaluation both at the school and system level. Laura Porter: Laura is co-founder of ACE Interface. She works with business partner Dr. Robert Anda to help communities use ACE Study findings to improve health and wellbeing. Laura develops educational products, provides keynote speeches and workshops, and helps leaders in over 20 states to develop powerful strategies for preventing ACEs and mitigating their effects. She has spent more than a decade helping leaders in communities, philanthropy, government and the private sector to apply ACE study concepts as a vital part of building community capacity to solve social and health problems. Compensation for WWPS Employees
- Per diem daily rate (three days)
- Free clock hours (up to 18)
Free Childcare for WWPS Employees
Through a partnership with the City of Walla Walla Parks & Recreation Program, we have been able to reserve 45 childcare slots for Walla Walla Public School staff attending JumpStartEd 2016. As part of this agreement, we are only able to offer this opportunity to school-aged children, 5-12 years of age.
Childcare will be provided at Green Park from 8:00-4:30 each conference day. If you are interested in accessing this service, please indicate your need for childcare through the online registration portal and print off, fill out and return the attached registration form to Pam Clayton, District Office, by June 30th. You will be notified if your child(ren) have a space reserved no later than July 1.
***If you and your spouse both work for WWPS, please have only one person indicate the need for childcare through the JumpStartEd registration portal. Thank you.
