District A - Z For Parents For Staff

Teacher Professional Qualifications

Parents’ Right to Know
Communications are a two-way process. Per the Elementary & Secondary Education Act (ESEA) or better known as No Child Left Behind, parents always have the right to request information on the professional qualifications of their child’s teachers.

The following information is available upon request:

  • Licensing for grade level and subject
  • Emergency or provisional status
  • B.A. major and graduate degrees
  • Paraprofessionals’ qualifications

Walla Walla Public Schools will also notify parents if their child has a teacher for four weeks who is not “highly qualified” per the definition provided from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

The district will make available any program evaluations, plans, and reports relating to the Special Education Part B program available to the public, upon request, through the district’s special education office and the superintendent’s office.
